HAZECO Bill – Hazara Electric Supply Company

Hazara Electric Supply Company (HAZECO) is Pakistan’s newest electricity distribution company, established by NEPRA order on May 23, 2025. It was carved out from PESCO (Peshawar Electric Supply Company) to serve the Hazara Division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province as a separate, dedicated DISCO. HAZECO covers approximately 16,749 square kilometres and serves an estimated 700,000 to 800,000 consumers.

HAZECO Service Territory: Hazara Division Districts

HAZECO’s service area is the entire Hazara Division, which shares a border with Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. The 8 districts under HAZECO are:

Checking Your HAZECO Electricity Bill Online

As a newly formed DISCO, HAZECO operates on billing and IT infrastructure inherited from PESCO and the PITC (Pakistan Information Technology Company) system. Your HAZECO bill reference number is the same 14-digit number you previously used for your PESCO bill if you were in the Hazara Division. Enter it above to check your bill.

  • Your 14-digit reference number is printed at the top-right of your electricity bill
  • Previously PESCO consumers in Hazara Division are now under HAZECO
  • The PITC online portal at bill.pitc.com.pk serves HAZECO bills
  • Bill payment channels remain the same: HBL, MCB, UBL, JazzCash, EasyPaisa

HAZECO Electricity Tariff (Domestic Consumers)

HAZECO consumers are billed under the same NEPRA-approved national tariff structure applied to all DISCOs. The current domestic rates are:

Monthly UnitsTariff Per Unit
1 to 100 unitsRs. 12.21 per kWh
101 to 200 unitsRs. 14.53 per kWh
201 to 300 unitsRs. 31.51 per kWh
301 to 400 unitsRs. 38.41 per kWh
401 to 500 unitsRs. 41.62 per kWh
501 to 600 unitsRs. 43.04 per kWh
601 to 700 unitsRs. 44.18 per kWh
Above 700 unitsRs. 49.10 per kWh

HAZECO was only recently separated from PESCO. Tariff structure and billing systems are identical to PESCO during the transition period.

Why HAZECO Was Created

The Hazara Division has distinct electricity consumption patterns from the rest of PESCO’s territory. Hazara borders Islamabad and has significant industrial load at Hattar Industrial Estate, Haripur – one of KPK’s largest industrial zones. The region also has major hydroelectric generation nearby, including the Tarbela Dam (which feeds into the national grid through NTDC).

NEPRA’s rationale for creating HAZECO was to improve operational efficiency by allowing dedicated management of the Hazara network, reduce T&D losses through targeted investment, and eventually position Hazara’s better-performing network for privatization consideration in a later tranche.

HAZECO Consumer Registration and Transition

Existing PESCO consumers in the Hazara Division are automatically transferred to HAZECO without needing to re-register. Meter numbers, reference numbers, and connection details remain unchanged. New connections in the Hazara Division are issued directly by HAZECO.
