About Sukkur Electric Power Company (SEPCO)

Sukkur Electric Power Company (SEPCO) is a public electricity distribution company established in 2010 after the bifurcation of HESCO. SEPCO is responsible for electricity distribution in Sukkur and the surrounding districts of Sindh and operates under the regulatory authority of NEPRA. The company’s head office is located in Sukkur, Sindh, Pakistan.

SEPCO was established through official notification No. MDP/GM/HR/Dir/(O&M)/PEPCO/1632-99 dated 26 July 2010 and formally began operations on 16 August 2010. As part of this restructuring, HESCO surrendered its historical operational limits for the areas transferred to SEPCO, and a formal No Objection Certificate (NOC) was issued to confirm the jurisdictional change.

The company was incorporated under the Companies Ordinance and registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) on 23 November 2010. Subsequently, NEPRA admitted SEPCO’s application for a distribution license, published it for public hearing on 7 April 2011, and issued Distribution Licence No. 21/DL/2011 on 18 August 2011, with Registration No. LAD-35.

SEPCO currently operates its electricity distribution system through three operational circles:

  • Sukkur
  • Larkana
  • Dadu

After the bifurcation, the modified HESCO distribution system retained its own three operational circles:

  • Hyderabad-I
  • Hyderabad-II
  • Nawabshah

This structural separation was implemented to improve administrative control, operational efficiency, and regional electricity distribution management.
